Happy New Year!  Or, as they say in Japan, “Ake mashite omedeto go zai masu”.

In January 1, 2002, we entered the New Year with a lunar eclipse and a 3 degree conjunction with the planet Jupiter.  What a sight it was.  I hope all of you had a chance to view it.  If you’re like most people, you also entered the New Year a little heavier than the previous month.

So let’s construct a New Year resolution to shed those unwanted pounds, or did we realize last year’s New Year resolution to do the same?  But then again, how about the similar weight lost resolutions from years previous to that.  Does that make the other resolutions a work in progress?  Is it a singular resolution or a compound resolution?  Hmmm?  Nah, it’s too heavy of a thought. J

I prefer to start fresh. How about you?  Well, for those of you who chose to start fresh with a clearly focused intent to shed those pounds, here are a few suggestions you might try.

First considerations

  1. Forget previous New Year’s resolution failures.
  2. Underachieve by making your resolutions simple and easy, and write them down.

Dietary considerations

  1. No red meats, cured meats, fried foods, dairy, breads/pastries, pasta, chips, candy, sugared foods or beverages.  If that’s too severe, cut your intake by half.
  2. Cut your alcohol consumption by half.
  3. Watch your sauces and avoid gravy.
  4. Eat single portions.
  5. Eat until you are 80% full.
  6. Cut your dining out by ½ and eat more fresh foods and vegetables.

 Exercises

  1. Place your palm on your navel, and then place your other palm on top of it.  Without sliding over your skin make a clockwise circular motion 100 times.  Once you have completed this, rest with your palms on its original starting point over the navel.  Rest there a few moments and enjoy the wonderful feeling that will occur.
  2. Lay face up on a flat surface and move your pelvis 2 inches to the right and left in a rhythmic fashion 100 times.  Moving left and right equals 1 count.

Start your day with these exercises in bed or on the floor.  These exercises will help to stimulate the nervous, vascular, lymphatic and meridian systems, especially in the organs which will enhance and optimize your body’s processing functions.
